When I wake up, well I know I’m gonna be

I’m gonna be the one who plants a ton of trees

I will build the future that I wanna see

It will be a paradise of birds and bees

I believe that more diversity is key

And then we can trust in our ecology

Cause we cannot let the agri-industry

Exploit all the land we have to fill their greed

So I will plant 500 trees

And I will plant 500 more

It may take some time to build that dream but I know what I do it for

When I started, I believed that it would be

Just a year till this works independently

Lazy farmer, that is just my cup of tea

All my harvest would come practically for free

But it turns out in the harsh reality

Systems don’t develop automatically

I get questions about productivity

People wonder if I’m not just growing weeds

But I will plant 500 trees

And I will plant 500 more

It may take some time to build that dream but I know what I do it for

Will this ever fit in “the economy”?

Maybe that is just the wrong mentality

There are questions, much we still want to study

This is still a scientific novelty

But we are with many people who believe

That this system is the change we need to see

So let’s give and take and share our energy

To be working in food forestry

So we will plant 500 trees

And we will plant 500 more

It may take some time to build that dream but we know what we do it for

So we will plant 500 trees

And we will plant 500 more

Because we are working for a world where care, not cash, is at the core
